TOP 10 MALAYSIA JOB SITES
TOP 10 MALAYSIA JOB SITES – TODAY INTERVIEWS My answers will be compared to my experience working / living in Manila.
Diversity – On my first day at work (I was in the IT industry), I expected my colleagues to be mostly Malaysian. I was wrong. Most of them are Chinese. In the company I work for, I think 80% are Chinese and the rest are Indians and Pakistanis. There are 1 Filipino (I), 1 Lebanese, 1 Nigerian, 1 Uzbek, 1 Kazakhstan and at one point 1 to 2 Malay Muslims. It was easy to get along with them.
Food – Because of the variety of people, there is also variety in food! Lots of different recipes available – Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Korean, Taiwanese, Western, Indian, Vegetarian etc!
Nightlife – I know another post said that nightlife is active. But compared to the night scene in Manila, I found it quite tame.
Alcohol – Malaysia is a Muslim country so alcohol is very expensive!
Pork – Equivalent to alcohol, expensive and not all restaurants serve it.
Shopping – Lots of malls here! 🙂
Transportation – I do not take buses or taxis. I mostly travel by train, car and Uber (I feel safe). Depending on the destination, my colleagues said, some buses can be packed and delayed, others not so much, and almost on time. These days, LRT malfunctions occur, perhaps at least once a month. Compared to the train system in Manila, there is nothing once a month. Traffic can be crazy during busy times and holidays when people return to their homeland, but better than Manila and Bangkok.
Crime rate – I feel safe in KL. Of course, you still have responsibility for your belongings. A low crime rate does not mean that it is not a crime.
Weather – I like the weather here (except for the occasional fog). It is hot and humid but softer than Manila. There are no crazy hurricanes in Malaysia all year round.
Electricity and petrol – much cheaper than in Manila.
